I recently posted a video on stretching tight muscles and why it isn’t a great idea. I even went one step further to say stretching tight muscles with make your muscles tighter and more painful.
In this video I use a great visual analogy with that of a piece of rope.
Imagine your calf muscle for example is a piece of rope. The problem is you have a ‘knot’ in your calf muscle. So what happens when you pull that rope with a knot in it? That’s right – the knot gets tighter.
So what happens when you stretch you calf muscle with a painful ‘knot’ in it. That’s right again, the knot in the muscles gets tighter and more painful.
